RELAXING MASSAGE
In today’s fast-paced world,
stress is simply a fact of life; whether the stress is
generated from your job, family or other source,
stress is real and can often affect how we feel. One
result of stress can be muscle tightness. Eddie’s
deep tissue work is a great and effective way to
loosen tight muscles and promote relaxation.

LOW BACK PAIN RELIEF
Many people come to see me
complaining of pain in their lower back. In the past
this was often called “lumbago” and was used to
describe a generalized discomfort in the area above
the hips; pain on moving from side to side, standing
in a particular position, sitting, all could activate
this dull ache in the low back area. Often this kind
of pain arises suddenly and with no warning. Some
people attribute the discomfort to stress, others, to
a certain movement or perhaps over exertion during the
weekend. Whatever the cause, slow, deep work
accompanied by stretching various areas that are
connected to the hips is an effective means of working
out this kind of discomfort.

NECK/SHOULDER SORENESS
These days, the number of
people who see me for neck/shoulder soreness rivals
those who present with low back pain. More than
likely, computer/desk work is the culprit as it is so
common for people to spend an inordinate amount of
time hunched over the computer.
It is not uncommon for me to spend 20 or 30 minutes
working on a person’s neck while they are lying on
their back (in the winter my table is heated). In this
manner I am able to effectively soften sore muscles
and to gently stretch and mobilize the entire cervical
area. Additionally, I teach my clients easy stretches
which they can do at home to assist in maintaining
neck/shoulder flexibility.

TENDONITIS
Tendons are the end points of muscles
which attach and grow into the bone. Often tendons can
suffer from strain when they are used repeatedly in
activities such as tennis, golf or other forms of
repetitive motion. Common areas of soreness are around
the elbow, forearm or wrist. When tendons become
inflamed they can swell and at times can press on a
nerve, causing pain and or weakness. Carpel Tunnel is
just this kind of condition. Loosening the muscles of
the inflamed area through slow, deep massage (always
within the client’s pain tolerance) and gently
stretching the muscles is an effective way of bringing
relief. Teaching the client how to strengthen the area
is also a useful form of therapeutic intervention.
